An evening with Melanie Parr

Well what a pleasant surprise!

Melanie Parr Hosted a One Woman Show at Garboldisham Village Hall on 27^th November.  A really entertaining evening beautifully aimed at the ‘Musicals’ audience full of songs, anecdotes and memories of 60’s and 70’s London’s West End theatre and some of its lovable characters.

The audience of over 100 people were held spell bound by Melanie relating her experiences in first getting and then growing into the part of Gretel in Rogers & Hammerstein’s production of The Sound of Music.

“Characters were really brought alive by the use of original costumes and life like images” commented one audience member during the break, “Well worth the money” commented another “ It was just like inviting Melanie into our sitting Room for a chat” 

The Management Committee have expressed an interest in having Melanie return to enthral us with more tales of the theatre.

Fox Planning application goes before Breckland D.C. Planning Committee

The fate of Garbodisham Fox to be decided by Breckland District Council.
Monday 11th October will be a important day for the community of Garboldisham, a rural country village on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders, for it is the day that Breckland District Council’s Planning committee sit to decide whether to let an asset (stripping) company obtain a Change of Use order that would allow the 17th Century Fox Inn public house to be transformed into 5 private dwellings.

There is a lot of support for the “Save the Fox” action group, both within and outside of this community.

It is reported that previous attempts from both the group and interested individuals to purchase the freehold as a going concern have been thwarted by Criterion Asset Management who would seem to have a separate agenda than supporting rural enterprises as expressed by the current coalition government

Liz Simcock returns to Garboldisham

Following on from her recent visits supporting the Churchfitters, Liz Simcock is pleased to announce "An Evening with Liz"
Ably assisted by Warwick Jones on Guitar & Ian Newman on Bass, Liz will revel us with her own brand of easy to listen folk music.
